You may have noticed that here at THN we love LEGO and not only are we’re ridiculously excited that with JURASSIC WORLD opens in cinemas across the world from 11th June, we’re also giving you the first review of the detailed and in-depth LEGO sets that accompany Colin Trevorrow’s upcoming Isla Nublar adventure. It’s a good day.
Recent times have seen a plethora of fantastic tie-ins from LEGO that has includes the Avengers: Age of Ultron set, the Simpsons Kwik-E-Mart (with mini-figures) and a whole host more right here. Straight off the launch-pad though, here’s your first proper look at the JURASSIC WORLD sets that include everything from a Pteranodon Capture to the breakout of the mighty new Indominus rex – Let’s begin!
Overall, there are six exclusive movie tie-in sets and we start by building and looking at the Raptor Rampage set (RRP £49.99), which includes Owen (Chris Pratt) and Claire (Bryce Dallas Howard) in their mobile vet van, which is a chunky addition, complete with computers inside and a rotating rooftop shooter. The weapon is spring-loaded to fire across your average living room and can be stored inside the van as well, it’s very smartly done. It also comes with an ACU Trooper and two marauding raptors, Blue and Delta, who are – quite frankly – amazing. This is one of those sets that speaks for itself really, take a look:
Up next is the huge Indominus Rex Breakout set (RRP £99.99), which is put together by building the separate sides and then attaching them to create a cage-like structure for the new dino-hybrid. We also get a real look at the gyrosphere, complete with Zach inside, which both rolls and keeps whoever sits inside steady. It’s a clever little invention and can be pushed into action in various ways. You’ve also got a research tower, complete with Mosquito-embalmed Amber and on top of that, a Helicopter to get up and away from the violently vengeful dinosaur.
The set has large movable JURASSIC WORLD gates, a crane, numerous plants and a whole host of little hidden extras you build and discover within the set. It’s a special one for sure. You also get another ACU trooper, the marvellous Dr Wu – who may caused some trouble – and a vet armed with a tranquilizer gun. We’re not sure how much the latter will help take down the giant beast but it’s good to see so much detail. Here’s a closer view:
Next up, the Pteranodon Capture (RRP £19.99) gives you a look at the flying pteranodon who’s nabbed another one of those rather unfortunate ACU troopers but the Jurassic One helicopter, with Simon Masrani, is there to help with the rescue. This also comes with a net shooter, to take the ancient bird down:For those JP lovers among us (all of us, right?) there’s another dino you probably wouldn’t want to stumble across and it’s the Dilophosaurus Ambush (RRP £29.99) set. For reasons yet unknown, Gray is lost in his gyrosphere and being chased by a dilophosaurus but luckily there’s one of those ACU troopers around and he’s in the true classic Jurassic World 4×4. With this, you’ll get some binoculars and a walkie-talkie to help you escape, plus a handy winch to grab it. Take a gander:
If you’re a Raptor addict, like myself, then you’re in luck as this set is aptly named Raptor Escape (RRP £39.99). With this set you get an offroader to chase one of your escapees and another cool flick shooter, along with Barry’s tranquilizer gun, to try and get it back. As you do:Finally, it’s (literally) the big one and the return of the mighty Tyrannosaur with the T. Rex Tracker (RRP £59.99)! As you might have noticed, they’ve been a little misguided with their hope for keeping all the animals in, so the unruly and truly awesome T-Rex has managed to get out of its pen. You’ll be able to drive the motorcycle to distract our Jurassic anti-hero, and also the dino cage as a trap.
We believe you’ll need the mobile research module’s harpoon-style trap shooter, so you know, use it wisely…
To pick up your ‘must-have’ from this range of LEGO Jurassic World sets, head to their official site and get even more excited for June 11th, just head right here.
