Floria Sigismondi Set To Direct ‘The Delivery Man’

deliverymanCannes doesn’t officially start till tomorrow, but the news is coming in quick and fast already! The first big news to come out of the glitz and glamour is that music video turned feature film director Floria Sigismondi has signed up to direct THE DELIVERY MAN.

Sigismondi, known for directing music videos for artists such as Muse, David Bowie and Marilyn Manson, made her feature film debut helming the THE RUNAWAYS, the 1970s rock band biopic starring Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning as Joan Jett and Cherie Currie. But Sigismondi will steer very clear from her music background with THE DELIVERY MAN.

Adapted from Joe McGinniss Jr’s debut novel, THE DELIVERY MAN tells the story of three childhood friends who have been negatively affected by their years growing up Las Vegas. The novel follows Chase, who goes from having a promising art career to becoming a ‘delivery man’ for his escort friend Michele. When the book was first released in 2008 it was dubbed Less Than Zero for the MySpace generation.

The film is set to produced by John Domo and Braxton Pope. Speaking out about the news, Pope said:

[quote_box_center]“Joe McGinniss Jr. wrote a terrific novel and, from the time Bret Easton Ellis first made me aware of the book, I’ve believed it would make a compelling film. Floria is an exceptionally skilled visualist and someone I’ve wanted to work with for years.”[/quote_box_center]

Cannes is starting out big with the movie news this year…wonder what will pop up next? Keep it THN to find out.
