It seems that Warner Bros. are moving positively forward with their next DC comic-book movie adaptation. Following the positive buzz we’re hearing about the in-production Suicide Squad, and the anticipation for next year’s massive Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice, casting is progressing on the stand alone Wonder Woman movie which will be led by Gal Gadot, who will make a brief appearance in Batman V Supes.
It seems that Captain Kirk himself, Chris Pine, is in talks to star opposite Gadot in the movie as the male lead, and love interest to Wonder Woman/ Diana Prince, Steve Trevor. In the comic books Steve Trevor is a WWII fighter pilot who crash lands on Prince’s island where she nurses him back to health. Once he has recovered, she follows him to civilisation where she becomes Wonder Woman, with Trevor having no idea as to the existence of her alter ego.
We have no idea as to whether the film will follow this storyline as Wonder Woman will be quite established following Zack Snyder’s big tentpole next year, but Jason Fuchs is the man who is putting the story together for the high-budgeted Warner Bros. project.
Chris Pine is riding a wave of success following his turn in the two movies (with a third planned), the lower-budgeted Stretch from Joe Carnahan, and the Christmas release Into The Woods opposite the likes of Meryl Streep, Johnny Depp and Anna Kendrick.
Patty Jenkins will direct the film, which has a released date set for 23rd June, 2017.
