Pussy Galore back with Bond in Goldfinger sequel ‘Trigger Mortis’

GoldfingerThough fans are scrutinizing every detail of his next big screen outing Spectre, it’s easy to forget James Bond gives aficionados eyestrain in another medium – books.

Original author Ian Fleming is long-since deceased, but recent years have seen scribes as diverse as Charlie Higson and William Boyd create new adventures for 007 in print. The latest name to bring Her Majesty’s finest serial seducer to the page is the maddeningly prolific Anthony Horowitz, who has announced details of upcoming novel Trigger Mortis.

And there’s a surprise for expectant readers, as not only is the entry set two years after the events of spy classic Goldfinger, it brings back possibly the most notorious Bond girl of all into the fold – Pussy Galore. Honor Blackman’s brief but memorable stint in the movie cemented Galore’s status as a more proactive presence, laying the groundwork for stronger women in the mix of Martinis and mayhem. Horowitz has also taken a stab at his own lady-shaped character, named Jeopardy Lane.

The story is set in the late Fifties and takes place against the backdrop of the race to the stars between the US and the Soviet Union. Bond needs a villain of course, and this will be Jai Seung Sin… intriguingly given current events a Korean!

Trigger Mortis is out in September from Orion Books.
