Jurassic World Review

2nd Update: Confirmation. Jurassic World is the number one movie in America, and potentially around the world as the numbers have just come in from other territories showing the Universal backed movie. It is estimated that Jurassic World has taken $511 million at the global box-office this weekend, the biggest worldwide opening in the history of cinema. It is also Universal’s biggest ever opener. We’re still waiting for the final numbers to see if the film has shoved aside The Avengers’ record-breaking $207 million opening weekend from 2012.

Updated: We’re hearing that initial estimates for the film’s opener is actually nearer $204.6m ($205.59m), though we’re also hearing that the film could overtake Avengers by the end of Sunday when official numbers are released. That’s right, Jurassic World could become have the biggest opening weekend of all time come close of play. Exciting! More soon.

We’re hearing early reports that Colin Trevorrow’s Jurassic World has opened to a record-smashing $204.5 million opening weekend. The figures, if right as these are only estimated at present, would make it the second highest opening film of all time behind The first Avengers movie.

Joss Whedon’s superhero ensemble opened to a staggering $207m in 2012 with the second film, Avengers: Age Of Ultron, opening to $191m this summer.

More to come.
