Ewan McGregor thinks a Trainspotting sequel would be “extraordinary”.

The 44-year-old actor starred as heroin addict Mark Renton in the 1996 movie and has revealed he would love the opportunity to make a sequel with director Danny Boyle.

He said: “I think it might be extraordinary to see a sequel 20 years after the original.”

Ewan admitted he’d already spoken to the acclaimed director about making a ‘Trainspotting 2‘ movie, but insisted he doesn’t know whether it will happen.

He shared: “I would be up for it, I’ve said that to Danny.

“I haven’t seen any script yet or anything and I don’t know if there is one. There is a big idea that it might happen but I don’t know that it is happening, I really don’t.”

Ewan was initially reluctant to make a sequel, but said he’s come round to the idea over the last few years.

He reflected: “I just think I’ve changed my opinion about it. We’ve all moved on and there’s a lot of water under the bridge.

“I miss working with Danny. I did some of my best work with him and he is, to date, one my favourite directors I’ve ever worked with because he’s such a brilliant director.”
