Reports are circulating online that Darth Vader will appear in the in-production Star Wars Rogue One, the first film in the Star Wars Anthology series that is about to start shooting with Godzilla and Monsters director Gareth Edwards at the helm. The film, which is having some of its second unit stuff shot at the moment at the famous Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire, officially gets underway at the start of next month with Felicity Jones, Ben Mendelsohn and Riz Ahmed starring.

The events of Star Wars Rogue One are set before the 1977 original Star Wars movie A New Hope, and revolve around a heist to steal the plans to the Death Star, something which Vader would have been a little miffed at.

Birth Movies Death scored the skinny on Vader’s involvement in the project, but he won’t be the film’s main villain, apparently.

He will not be the main antagonist but he will be working behind the scenes, pulling strings and will appear onscreen.

The big question remains; has James Earl Jones been called yet?

There no boubt be some news coming our way from the world of Lucasfilm as this weekend’s San Diego Comic-Con hurtles towards us, and we’ll be sure to bring you that news as soon as we’ve got it.

This is cool thought, right?
