THN exclusive: Darren Lynn Bousman shares secrets about his ‘Tales of Halloween’ story

Tales of Halloween Directors

The sixteenth annual Frighfest event edges ever closer. The festival will see Leicester Square’s Vue cinema be taken over for four days, and an additional evening, by the horror community. Showing over seventy films there is bound to be something for everyone. The closing film has been announced as Tales of Halloween, a horror anthology comprising of eleven creepy tales, all directed by a well-known names in horror circles.

We managed to nab a couple of minutes with one of the directors, Darren Lynn Bousman, who is currently attending this year’s London Film and Comic Con (LFCC for short) to find out more about the film and his segment.

How did you come to be involved in Tales of Halloween?

[quote_box_center]Well, it’s a very small community, the horror community, so I got a phone call from Mike Mendez, Neil Marshall and a couple of others, and they said that they wanted to put together a series of short films from different directors. What’s cool about that is it’s very little time commitment, I basically was done in four days. That’s fun to go in and play because it normally takes a year, two years, so to go and shoot in a few days I thought was fun.[/quote_box_center]

The film will be closing this year’s Frightfest, will you be back over for that?

[quote_box_center]You know that’s the hope. I love it here and this is a very short trip, I’m here less than 36 hours. So it’ll be nice to come back and hang out, eat the food and go to some pubs. I heard it’s so good.[/quote_box_center]

So what’s it about?

[quote_box_center]It’s partially scary, partially funny. It’s a mishmash of different director’s making different kind if stupid, fun, scary films.[/quote_box_center]

There’s a very long list of cast involved, who have you got in yours?

[quote_box_center]Barry Bostwick‘s in mine. Adam Pascal who was in Rent on Broadway and the movie, and Adrianne Curry. So basically it’s Barry Bostwick from The Rocky Horror Picture Showhe’s the main one in mine.[/quote_box_center]

Any teasers as to what your section is about?

[quote_box_center]Mine is basically about a kid that goes trying to play pranks on the Devil’s house; Barry Bostwick is the devil and it’s over-the-top and funny, and it’s about what happens to them that night on Halloween. [/quote_box_center]

Should you want to find out more about Tales of Halloween why not check out the trailer which was released at San Diego Comic Con last weekend (maybe we do need San Diego a little).
