Seth Gordon, who directed the first Horrible Bosses movie, is being lined up to helm the big-screen version of the hit series, Baywatch.

Gordon is responsible for the superb documentary The King Of Kong, as well as the recent Jason Bateman/ Melissa McCarthy comedy Identity Thief, so we’re expecting a tongue-in-cheek version of David Hasselhoff‘s hit 1990s TV show when it arrives in cinemas.

The film has Dwayne Johnson on board in the lead, but it has been nine months since the actor took to social media to tell us all about it. Remember what he said?

“This is my beach bitch!”

Rumors are true… we’re making #BAYWATCH the movie. Edgy, raunchy and hopefully, funny as all hell. Cue slo mo running on the beach… #WhoNeedsMouthToMouth #RedShortsBeHugginABrotha”

Indeed.

Damian Shannon and Mark Swift are writing the script for the planned movie, and reports are suggesting that both David Hasselhoff and Pamela Anderson have parts in the planned film.

If you weren’t around in the 1990s to see the glorious TV show, here a plot synopsis to give you the general jist.

Get your swimsuits ready. Lt. Mitch Buchannon is the dedicated leader of a group of lifeguards at Malibu Beach in Los Angeles. This soap opera features a lot of sand, sun and bikinis, but also tackles many serious themes and features multifaceted characters. “Baywatch” is known for using slow motion when the lifeguards are running.

It was pretty fantastic, and was soley responsible for introducing Pamela Anderson to the world.

Here’s the legendary intro.
