Updated: We’ve also included the first poster for the film at the bottom of the post.
This year’s San Diego Comic Con really spoilt us with new footage and trailers at what seemed to be every single panel. Most trailers found their way online within moments of being shown in the hallowed halls yet a few have taken what has felt like an eternity to get here.
One such trailer was that of Ryan Reynolds’ latest superhero flick Deadpool. Fortunately we can all breathe a sigh of relief as it has finally (after only several weeks of waiting) landed in the cyber realm, check it out now:
The reason for the lengthly delay of the trailer appearing online is down to visual effects. The team behind the film weren’t 100% happy with how the effects looked and whilst were happy to share with a hall of fans as a sneak peek sizzle reel it wasn’t quite ready for the world. Happily now it is and so far the signs are pointing to a hit.
The character Deadpool was first played by Reynolds in the hit-and-miss film X-Men Origins: Wolverine, and fans were a little disappointed with how he got handled. Since then Reynolds has campaigned hard to get the Marvel anti-hero the movie he deserves, and earlier this year his hard work paid off as Fox agreed to back the project. Even more shockingly, they agreed to make it an R rated affair and, as you can see from the trailer, they aren’t holding back.
Speaking at the comic con panel Reynolds revealed that Deadpool is ‘the most faithful adaptation of a comic book to a movie I’ve ever seen’.
Deadpool is being directed by Tim Miller and also stars Morena Baccarin, Gina Carano, T J Miller and Ed Skrein. The film hits the UK next year on 5th February, and the US on 12th February.
