Kingsman: The Secret Service is working out to be one of my favourite movies of the year, and Taron Egerton is clearly the film’s breakout star. The latest is that Egerton is now in very early talks to play one of the most fanous British heroes of all time – Robin Hood in a brand new origin story.
Deadline are reporting that Egerton is looking to play the lead in Robin Hood: Origins, a new tale to be directed by Peaker Blinders helmer Otto Bathurst. The project, written by Joby Harold (upcoming Knights of the Roundtable: King Arthur from Guy Ritchie), is said to be a “gritty, revisionist take on the legend.”
The project is housed over at Lionsgate, who are also said to be looking for a female lead for the movie.

Shooting will kick off in 2016 for a supposed 2017 release.

Great…..a dark, gritty Christopher Nolan-style Batman Begins/Dark Knight version of Robin Hood….how freaking original, lol. You can’t just slap “dark” and “gritty” on everything and expect it to result in a good movie…and, of course, it has to be an “origins” movie, a “prequel” to set up a “franchise” of “connected universe” movies. They are planning solo movies on each of the characters….as if anyone is going to show up to see a Little John solo movie, lmfao. These studios have taken the term “copycatting” to a whole new level.
