Devil In The White City movie coming: Scorsese and DiCaprio unite for upcoming adaptation of Erik Larson’s book.
Scorsese and DiCaprio will collaborate on a Devil In The White City movie
After Paramount won back the rights to a property that it had owned twice before, it has been revealed that it has placed Martin Scorsese to team up with his ‘Wolf Of Wall Street’ star Leonardo DiCaprio for Devil In The White City.
The project revolves around the lives of two men who turned the 1893 Chicago World’s Fair into their playground; one an architect, and the other a serial killer. The Hollywood Reporter reports that DiCaprio is up for the role of H.H. Holmes, ‘a serial killer masquerading as a charming doctor who is believed to be responsible for scores of murders around the time of the fair. Holmes devised and erected the World’s Fair Hotel, complete with crematorium and gas chamber, near the fairgrounds and used the event as well as his charismatic personality to lure victims to their death.’
The architect, named Daniel H. Burnham who built the fair, remains uncast, but is a lead for a potential big name.
Scorsese directs, and Billy Ray (Captain Phillips) will write the screenplay.
This will be a huge project for Scorsese, and the trade reports that this will be his next film. Previous big names attached to the project include Tom Cruise, who was at one time looking to star and produce.
Devil In The White City is based on a 2003 book of the same name by Erik Larson, a property that DiCaprio nabbed the rights for back in 2010.
