A new Scooby Doo movie is being set up at Warner Brothers
New Scooby Doo movie due in 2018.
Warner Bros. have confirmed that they are making a new Scooby Doo movie, set for release in 2018. The new Scooby Doo movie will be directed by Tony Cervone, and it will be an all-new animated affair.
Cervone has a long history with the WB and has worked on projects like The Looney Tunes Show, Tom and Jerry: The Lost Dragon, and the DTV Scooby movie Scooby-Doo! And Kiss: Rock and Roll Mystery.
Scooby Doo was created in 1969 as an American animated cartoon franchise by writers Joe Ruby and Ken Spears for Hanna-Barbera Productions. There have been 12 seasons of the show in some form over the years and many spin-off movies including two live-action films featuring Freddie Prinze Jr. (Fred), Sarah Michelle Gellar (Daphne), Matthew Lillard (Shaggy) and Linda Cardellini (Velma).
“Like countless fans, I have always loved the Hanna-Barbera cast of characters,” said creative president Greg Silverman of Warner Bros.
“As one of their most famous brand ambassadors, Scooby-Doo will take the lead in re-introducing this pantheon of enduringly popular animated stars on a grand scale with an exciting new movie.”
The new movie will be produced by Charles Roven and Richard Suckle, who previously produced both live-action theatrical Scooby-Doo films before going on to produce American Hustle. Roven also produced Chris Nolan’s Batman movies, while Richard Suckle will produce the upcoming Suicide Squad and Wonder Woman for DC/ WB, along with Roven.
The new Scooby Doo movie already has a release date set for September 21st, 2018, and with the aforementioned talent on board, we can’t wait to see what they do with it.
