I hate click-bait headlines like that, so apologies, but we thought that this Mad Max Go Karts video that has just been posted over on YouTube was the bees-knees. Obviously produced to promote the upcoming Mad Max video game, the video features the iconic chase from Mad Max: Fury Road – but with Go Karts.
The high-quality video Mad Max Go Karts video was produced by WB Games and Avalanche Studios in collaboration with YouTube outfit devinsupertramp. This guy Devin and his team produce some really high quality stunt/ viral videos, including one called Assassin’s Creed Meets Parkour, which at the time of writing has had ove 48 million views on the video-sharing website.
It’s all impressive stuff, but not as impressive as the likeness between the Mad Max Go Karts video and the actual scene in George Miller’s hit movie. Featuring some wicked stunt work in these adapted karts, as well as some pretty dangerous paintballing (the guys in the cars don’t wear much in the way of protection, the video also has some impressive camera work using what we assume are drones to get those sweeping aerial shots.
The behind the scenes video, which shows the blood, sweat and tears that went into the making of this is also worth a look. This is a really talented bunch of artists.
The Mad Max video game, a vehicular combat and third-person actioner set in an open world environment and based on the Mad Max film series, comes out on September 1st. It was developed by Avalanche Studios and published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. It will be rated Pegi 18.
