There’s a ton of news coming out of the Telluride Film Festival at the moment. The first is that Danny Boyle‘s Steve Jobs, which received its world premiere at the fest, is absolutely fantastic, and has received pretty much universally positive buzz. The second piece of news just broke over at Deadline, who have discovered that Trainspotting 2 is going to be Boyle’s next movie.

“All the four main actors want to come back and do it.”

So, those four actors could be any of the following, who have gone on to huge careers since 1995’s masterpiece of British cinema. Ewan McGregor, Jonny Lee Miller, Robert Carlyle, Kevin McKidd, Ewen Bremner and Kelly Macdonald.

“Now it is only a matter of getting all their schedules together which is complicated by two of them doing American TV series,” Boyle added to the trade blog, who seem positive that it will be Boyle’s next project after promoting Steve Jobs, which will close this year’s London Film Festival.

Miller is currently appearing in US Sherlock series Elementary, McKidd is in ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy, Kelly Macdonald has appeared in Boardwalk Empire, while Carlyle has been a regular on ABC’s Once Upon A Time.

Just last month, Robert Carlyle told the Mirror newspaper that Trainspotting 2 is closer than ever.

He told the following to the newspaper:

[quote_box_center]”(it is) difficult getting all our ships aligned at the same time. What I would say is that it’s closer than it’s ever been.[/quote_box_center]

[quote_box_center]”Danny always said he wants us all to be 20 years older because the book (Trainspotting sequel Porno) is set 20 years later.[/quote_box_center]

[quote_box_center]”One of the difficulties of just adapting Porno is that so much of it is to do with internet porn, which has moved on a lot since the book was written – or so I understand – so it would require a hefty rewrite.”[/quote_box_center]

With next year being the 20th anniversary of the release of Trainspotting, it seems a perfect time to bring that sequel to screens. Porno is written by Trainspotting author Irvine Welsh, the synopsis for which we’ve posted below courtesy of Amazon, though the site cites that the book is set ten years on from the events of the original story.

[quote_box_center]Ten years on from Trainspotting, Simon ‘Sick Boy’ Williamson is back in Edinburgh after a long spell in London. Having failed spectacularly as a hustler, pimp, husband, father and businessman, Sick Boy taps into an opportunity, which to him represents one last throw of the dice. However, to realise his dream of directing and producing a pornographic movie, Sick Boy must team up with old pal and fellow exile Mark Renton and a motley crew that includes the city’s favourite ex-aerated-water-salesman, ‘Juice’ Terry Lawson.

In the world of Porno, however, nothing is straightforward, as Sick Boy and Renton find out that they have unresolved issues to address, concerning the increasingly unhinged Frank Begbie, the troubled, drug-addled Spud, but, most of all, with each other.[/quote_box_center]

More news on Porno, or Trainspotting 2, or whatever they decide to call it, as soon as we get it.
