Thanks to StudioCanal we have our first look at the upcoming A Bigger Splash, a new film that stars Tilda Swinton (Grand Budapest Hotel, Only Lovers Left Alive), Ralph Fiennes (Skyfall, Grand Budapest Hotel) Dakota Johnson (Fifty Shades of Grey, Black Mass) and Matthias Schoenaerts (Far From The Madding Crowd, The Danish Girl). The film debuts at this month’s London Film Festival.
Rock legend Marianne Lane is recuperating on the volcanic island of Pantelleria with her partner Paul when iconoclast record producer and old flame Harry unexpectedly arrives with his daughter Penelope and interrupts their holiday, bringing with him an A-bomb blast of nostalgia from which there can be no rescue.
A BIGGER SPLASH is a sensuous portrait of desire, jealousy and rock and roll, under the Mediterranean sun.
Luca Guadagnin directs the film, and had the following to say in today’s official release from the studio.
“Our characters are drawn into their truest version of themselves and enter a tangled nexus of sex and burning desire, pushing them to a dark side. I see this as a completely modern psychological relationship drama; our classic cinematic bones and structure take shape in a most modern way of storytelling and characters who lead us to a charged and unsettling climax.“
