Terminator Genisys sequels get terminated

Terminator Genisys

In what has to be some of the greatest film news ever released it seems we won’t be getting any Terminator Genisys sequels after all. When Genisys was first announced it was pitched as a new trilogy with some reports stating that the follow-up films would come even if it didn’t take any money. However, in light of a shockingly poor box office performance, it looks like the studio have gotten cold feet and have put the two proposed sequels on ‘indefinite hold’.

Terminator Genisys was supposed to be one of the landmark summer releases, Arnold Schwarzenegger was back in the leather jacket for the first time in over a decade, but it failed to hit its mark. Yes it did take a LOT of money in China, but it tanked everywhere else so spectacularly that it just doesn’t make sense to pump any more money into the series.

Fans of the original Terminator will be breathing a huge sigh of relief reading this news as Genisys was just one big epic let-down. The story, which saw multiple time jumps and rewritings, came across like lacklustre and poorly written fan fiction. The casting choices were also all wrong, the cast spending most of the run time looking and sounding like really bad cosplay. Then there was the unexpected (and unwanted) overuse of humour. Yes we get that the film was targeted to a younger audience than the two James Cameron directed films, but when every other line was an attempt to make the viewer laugh it gets a little much. And don’t even get us started on those ‘upgrades’. Also, is anyone else sick and tired of seeing the Golden Gate bridge get destroyed? Does America not have any other big bridges?

R.I.P Terminator Genisys, you won’t be missed.

There is still a chance for a sequel. Blu ray and DVD sales will help the chance of a sequel being made. Plus it made double its budget back worldwide

It wasn’t half as bad as this writer makes it out to have been.
