Jon Voight joins Fantastic Beasts
He’s currently playing the role of Mickey Donovan in Showtime’s acclaimed Ray Donovan TV series to much acclaim, and now screen legend Jon Voight has joined the cast of the in-production Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them, the big screen adaptation of J.K. Rowling‘s work.
Eddie Redmayne is headlining the movie, with Katherine Waterston, Alison Sudol, Dan Fogler, Ezra Miller, Samantha Morton, Jenn Murray, Faith Wood-Blagrove and Colin Farrell also amongst the cast.
The all new adventure is set in the wizarding world created by J.K. Rowling in her best-selling Harry Potter books, which were adapted into the highest-grossing film franchise of all time.
Redmayne stars as Newt Scamander, the wizarding world’s preeminent magizoologist, who stops in New York following his travels to find and document magical creatures.
Here’s the full synopsis for the book, as described by Amazon.
As featured in the first year set texts reading list in Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is an extensive introduction to the magical beasts that exist in the magical, non-Muggle world. Some of the animals featured in the A-Z you will have already met in the existing Harry Potter books: for example Hippogriff, Flobberworm, Kappa – others you certainly won’t: read on to find out exactly what a Chizpurfle is, or why one should always beware of the sinister Lethifold …As Albus Dumbledore says in his introduction, this set text book by Newt Scamander has given the perfect grounding to many a Hogwarts student. It will be helpful to all Muggles out there too …On reading the book you will also find that Harry, Ron and (in one instance) Hermione – couldn’t resist grafittiing the book, and adding their own personal hand-written opinions.
In additional casting news, Carmen Ejogo (Selma) and Gemma Chan (Humans), have also joined the growing cast of the movie.
Warner Bros. Pictures has slated FantasticBeasts and Where to Find Them for worldwide release in 3D and IMAX on November 18, 2016.
