The Ricky Gervais David Brent film will be called Life On The Road, and will be a feature spin-off of the famous character seen in his hit TV series The Office.
The film will be done in the mockumentary style – a bit like The Office and his other series, Extras and Life’s Too Short, where a film crew shadows Brent as he travels up and down the country living his dream of being a rock star.
According to sources, the film will be set 15 years after The Office, and will feature new songs written by Gervais. We even hear that Chris Martin from Coldplay will also contribute to the soundtrack.
We first brought you news that a film based on the iconic Gervais character was being produced earlier back in 2013, before the news was officially confirmed and the ball put into motion earlier on this year.
“This film delves much more into his private life than The Office ever did and we really get to peel back the layers of this extraordinary, ordinary man.” Gervais said in a recent interview.
Gervais wrote and will direct the film, continuing his multi-talented approach that has created comedy gold with the aforementioned titles, which were moulded alongside the equally talented Stephen Merchant, and Gervais’s solo effort Derek, which has achieved great acclaim from critics and fans aroind the world.
Entertainment One and BBC Films will distribute the Ricky Gervais David Brent film, Life On The Road in 2016. We are expecting a release for the summer of next year in the UK. August 19, 2016 is the expected time of arrival, a firm favourite for a UK release with the likes of The Inbetweeners and its sequel, as well as this year’s Bad Education movie released around that time.
