We’ve just received the following from Vue Cinemas, the British cinema chain that has two of their cinemas open for 24 hours a day this week for fans to catch the 24th Bond movie SPECTRE. The film has broken records across the country as Vue, one of the UK’s leading chains, welcomed a record breaking 105,000 fans through the doors at Vue Cinemas on the opening day of SPECTRE.

Kevin Styles, Managing Director of UK and Ireland at Vue Cinemas said:

“The Bond franchise remains as popular as ever with unprecedented demand to see the 24th Bond resulting in the largest number of tickets being sold in a single day in Vue’s history. To accommodate overwhelming consumer demand, Vue Cinemas has scheduled up to 10,000 showings of SPECTRE in the next 2 ½ weeks and running 24hr cinema, highlighting the incredible appeal and longevity of this franchise. While Skyfall was the highest grossing film in cinema history, SPECTRE is now heading in the same direction”.

We reviewed the film very positively here, and it looks like, as we predicted, that SPECTRE is on track to match Skyfall‘s success. We’ll be sticking close to the numbers this week to see how the latest 007 adventure, once again directed by Sam Mendes, fares at the UK & Ireland box-office. The film opens Stateside on November 6th.

The 24 hour screenings start at Vue Westfield London and Vue Westfield Stratford City from Monday 26th October from 8pm until the late showing on Sunday 1st November.

The film received its world premiere at the Royal Albert Hall on Monday night with all of the cast and crew joining Prince Harry and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge at the glittering event.

The last Bond movie, Skyfall, which was released back in 2012, achieved over a billion dollars at the worldwide box-office, making it the highest grossing 007 film of all time.
