Here’s the character description to go along with the Enchantress images, from the DC Comics Wiki.

Enchantress is a powerful but mentally unstable witch who has fought as hero and villain. Her true identity is the kind-hearted June Moone, although she becomes evil when possessed by the Enchantress entity. She has been a member of the Forgotten Villains, Justice League Dark, the Sentinels of Magic, Shadowpact and the Suicide Squad. Enchantress was created by Bob Haney and Howard Purcell, first appearing in Strange Adventures #187.

“She’s an ancient sorceress. A feral being. She’s been trapped for so long and now she’s finally let out,” said Delevingne to the magazine.

Suicide Squad features an all-star cast that includes Will Smith as Deadshot, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flagg, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn and Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang. The film revolves around a secret government agency run by Amanda Waller, named A.R.G.U.S, who creates a task force comprised of super villains, the “Suicide Squad”. They are assigned to execute dangerous tasks in exchange for shorter prison sentences.

The film brings Jared Leto’s Joker to the screen, a difficult role to fill following Heath Ledger’s legendary turn as the villain, which bagged him an Oscar in The Dark Knight. It seems that Leto fully immersed himself into the character though. Leto, also an Academy-Award winner (for Dallas Buyers Club), spoke with Empire:

“I took a pretty deep dive,” he said. “But this was a unique opportunity and I couldn’t imagine doing it another way. It was fun, playing those psychological games. But at the same time it was very painful, like giving birth out of my prick hole.”

Delightful. Check out the additional ‘Joker’ cover below.

David Ayer directs from his own screenplay. More Enchantress images can be found in the new issue of Empire magazine, which is on news stands from today. Suicide Squad is released in cinemas on August 5th, 2016.
