British artist Lincoln Townley has revealed six portraits to be donates to the British Academy of Film and Television LA, which will auction them to raise funds for its Educational and Community Outreach Programs.
The portraits are in celebration of the 2015 British Academy Britannia Award honourees – Orlando Bloom, James Corden, Harrison Ford, Sam Mendes, Amy Schumer, and Meryl Streep – and will be presented to the honourees personally by Lincoln at the Britannia Awards later tonight, taking place at the Beverly Hilton, LA.
The portraits will be auctioned through ArtNet.com.
Impressionist Lincoln Townley has become a leading name in the UK’s contemporary art scene, coming to prominence amongst the great and good of Hollywood with his ICONS portrait collection, which has include commissioned works of stars such as Charlie Sheen, Nick Nolte, Harry Dean Stanton, Al Pacino, and others. His work in this collection focuses on stars who have led particularly turbulent lives, reflected by the collection’s distinctive, anarchic style. These can be seen at five star Hiltons throughout the UK, where Lincoln is an artist in residence.
Jack Whitehall will present this evening’s Britannia Awards, while each of the honourees will receive awards.
Harrison Ford will receive the Albert R. Broccoli Britannia Award for Worldwide Contribution to Entertainment; Orlando Bloom will receive the Britannia Humanitarian Award; Meryl Streep will receive the Stanley Kubrick Britannia Award for Excellence in Film; Sam Mendes will receive the John Schlesinger Britannia Award for Excellence in Directing; James Corden will receive the Britannia Award for British Artist of the Year; and Amy Schumer will receive the Charlie Chaplin Britannia Award for Excellence in Comedy
The 2015 British Academy Britannia Awards take place tonight and will air in the US on Pop on Friday, 6 November and on Channel 5 in the UK at a later date.
