Anchorman writer and director Adam McKay could be up for writing the sequel to this year’s Ant-Man, Ant-Man and the Wasp. The film has a release date set for 2018, and it looks like McKay, who did some rewrite work on the first movie, could come back and pen the new film.
McKay of course worked with Ant-Man himself, Paul Rudd, on the Anchorman movies too. He spoke with The Hollywood Reporter.
“I was talking to Rudd about it the other day. We’ll see what happens, but that would certainly be fun”.
“I loved working with Marvel”, he added. “And I have a couple of projects in development. One of them is more dramatic, one’s more comedy, still with a little bit of political teeth to it. And there’s a TV show idea I’ve been kicking around.”
McKay’s next film is The Big Short, a film that will be released in January. The film is a departure for the talented filmmaker; a drama that stars Christian Bale, Ryan Gosling, Brad Pitt and Steve Carell.
Ant-Man and the Wasp is set for release on July 6th, 2018.
