The planned Tomb Raider movie reboot has found a new writer and director. In somewhat exciting news, Roar Uthaug, who directed the upcoming Norwegian disaster move The Wave, will take control of directing the film, while Transformers 5 writer Geneva Robertston-Dworet will write the screenplay.

The news is exciting as we caught Uthaug’s The Wave at this year’s London Film Festival. The film, which revolves around a tsunami taking out a small town in the mountains of Norway, is absolutely brilliant, and was shot for just a few million, but Uthaug managed to make it look like it cost a hundred million dollars. The Wave has already been a huge success in its home nation, with Norway actually submitting the film to The Academy as their official entry for the Best Foreign Language film Oscar. It’s set to arrive officially on these shores next spring.

Tomb Raider is getting more interest these days following the huge success of the last game, Rise Of The Tomb Raider, which has received both critical and huge international commercial acclaim.

We’ll bring you more news on the reboot as we get it.
