In additional news, Lawrence has been talking about working with her long-time collaborator O’Russell in a new interview which Entertainment Weekly picked up on.
“I’ll do anything with you until you die,” Lawrence told Russell Saturday during a Q&A that followed the first screening of Joy, “it’s sweet and f—ed up,” she added.
“David and I will never, ever, ever, ever not do movies together,” she said. “I love him so much that sometimes I can’t talk about him without tearing up. Look! I’m tearing up. I understand every look, every eyeball move, every word he says or doesn’t say. We were made for each other.”
Joy enters cinemas in the US on Christmas Day, going up against The Hateful Eight from Quentin Tarantino and a limited run for the new Leonardo DiCaprio movie The Revenant, which we saw a new promo for this morning.
Joy debuts in the UK on January 1st. Here’s the official synopsis.
JOY is the wild story of a family across four generations centered on the girl who becomes the woman who founds a business dynasty and becomes a matriarch in her own right. Betrayal, treachery, the loss of innocence and the scars of love, pave the road in this intense emotional and human comedy about becoming a true boss of family and enterprise facing a world of unforgiving commerce. Allies become adversaries and adversaries become allies, both inside and outside the family, as Joy’s inner life and fierce imagination carry her through the storm she faces. Jennifer Lawrence stars, with Robert De Niro, Bradley Cooper, Edgar Ramirez, Isabella Rossellini, Diane Ladd, and Virginia Madsen. Like David O. Russell’s previous films, Joy defies genre to tell a story of family, loyalty, and love.
Édgar Ramírez, Isabella Rossellini, Diane Ladd, and Virginia Madsen star.
