Best Documentary Oscar nominees: 124 films whitteled down to just 15 in the race to the Academy Awards in February.
Cartel Land
The short-list Best Documentary Oscar nominees have been whittled down to just 15 ahead of the main nominations in January. The 15 aren’t too surprising with the likes of Asif Kapadia’s Amy, The Look Of Science and Cartel Land all on the list, along with the stunning Listen To Me Marlon and the exceptional He Named Me Malala.
One hundred twenty-four films were originally submitted in the category for the Oscar, and now these 15 will be voted down to just five next month.
The 88th Academy Awards nominations will be announced live on Thursday, January 14, 2016, at 5:30 a.m. PT at the Academy’s Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills. The actual awards will be dished out on Sunday, February 28, 2016, at the Dolby Theatre® at Hollywood & Highland Center® in Hollywood where Chris Rock will host the glittering ceremony.
As usual, we’ll be live tweeting both the nominations and the awards themselves, so do make sure you’re following us on the right channels.
