Kingsman: The Secret Service star Sofia Boutella is reportedly in talks to star in Universal’s remake of The Mummy. Boutella played the role of Gazelle in Matthew Vaughn’s brilliant adaptation of Mark Millar’s graphic novel earlier this year, nearly stealing the show from Samuel L. Jackson as the acrobatic girl with blades for lower limbs.
The actress is in talks to join Universal’s The Mummy, and could end up starring alongside Tom Cruise who still may join the feature in the lead role. Jon Spaihts is writing ths screenplay for the monster movie, the first in an apparent new universe of monster movies, and Alex Kurtzman will direct for the studio, as well as oversee the rest of the planned films due in the years that follow.
At the moment, The Mummy is due in 2017 with shooting set to begin next year.
