New Deadpool photos show us more of the Merc With A Mouth. The film arrives in cinemas in February.
Three new Deadpool photos have been posted online for your viewing pleasure. Just a couple of days following the arrival of the Deadpool Christmas Day trailer treat, we have a bunch of new stills courtesy of our friends over at Empire magazine.
The new Deadpool photos reveal new looks at Ryan Reynolds‘ title character, as well as Gina Carano as Angel Dust, Stefan Kapicic as Colossus and Brianna Hildebrand as Ellie Phimister/ Negasonic Teenage Warhead.
Based upon Marvel Comics’ most unconventional anti-hero, Deadpool tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.
Empire also have two fantastic new covers featuring the Merc with a Mouth from an issue that goes on sale this week.
In the magazine, Reynolds spoke about how the film fits within the X-Men universe (the character previously appeared in X-Men Origins: Wolverine where Reynolds previously played the iconic role).
“This film certainly works within the context of the X-Men universe,” Reynolds told Empire, “but it doesn’t necessarily include the sensibilities of an X-Men movie. It’s like taking an X-Men character, pumping him full of LSD and then releasing him back into the fold.”
The film has been in development for many years, and come early next year, we’ll finally get to see the Deadpool movie we all deserve. Tim Miller directs from a screenplay from Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese (Zombieland). Morena Baccarin, Ed Skrein and T.J. Miller also star.
Deadpool opens in the UK on February 10th, 2016, and in the US on February 12th, 2016.
