First Moana footage: The Disney animation comes from Ron Clements and John Musker, the two filmmakers that delivered the classics The Little Mermaid and Aladdin.
The very first Moana footage has been released. Moana is an upcoming Disney animation which will be released in the UK in late 2016, and will feature the singing – yes, singing – vocal talents of Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and newcomer Auli’i Cravalho. The film is directed by Ron Clements and John Musker, the filmmakers that delivered the superb Aladdin and The Little Mermaid all of those years ago.
The fist Moana footage comes via YouTube and Joblo.com from a Disney Channel TV special. Here’s the brief plot synopsis.
In the ancient South Pacific world of Oceania, Moana, a born navigator, sets sail in search of a fabled island. During her incredible journey, she teams up with her hero, the legendary demi-god Maui, to traverse the open ocean on an action-packed voyage, encountering enormous sea creatures, breathtaking underworlds and ancient folklore.
Cravalho leads the cast of the first, her first major role following a huge casting search. The actress spoke about winning the part back in October.
“From baby time to now, I wanted to be a Disney princess and then I wanted to be a singer or an actress. Moana is such an amazing character. She’s brave, she is so empowered, she knows what she wants and she’s not afraid to get it, and I think that’s something that I can relate to as well. I just love watching how she goes along in this wonderful movie and grows as a person and helps her culture along the way.”
The first Moana footage can be watched below. We expect the first teaser trailer for the movie very soon.
Moana is expected in cinemas on November 23rd, 2016.
