The group of young actors that have been shortlisted to play a young Han Solo in the planned spin-off that, will be directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller, has been revealed. On the shortlist are Miles Teller (Whiplash), Ansel Elgort (The Fault In Our Stars), Dave Franco (Bad Neighbours), Jack Reynor (Transformers: Age of Extinction), Scott Eastwood (Suicide Squad), Emory Cohen (Brooklyn), Blake Jenner (Everybody Wants Some) and Logan Lerman (Percy Jackson).
The film doesn’t start shooting until January 2017, but we’re hearing that Lucasfilm are keen to get the coveted role cast ASAP. The reason? Well, the word on the street is that Han Solo may make a cameo appearance in the still-shooting Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, which is being directed by Gareth Edwards. That movie has about a month left to shoot before heading to the edit suit, so the casting guys and Lord and Miller best get cracking.
From the list above we’d sway towards either Teller or Elgort, but anyone on that list could fill the very ample shoes of Harrison Ford.
The Han Solo movie arrives on May 25, 2018.
