Deadpool has been banned in China

Deadpool.

The upcoming comic-book adaptation Deadpool has been banned in China. The Ryan Reynolds-led movie will not be released in the country after their censors banned it due to its violence, nudity and graphic language – so says The Hollywood Reporter.

It doesn’t look like they’ll be cutting some of the offending footage down either. The trade reports that China’s censorship authorities often work with Hollywood studios to create special cleaned-up cuts of R-rated movies, ‘but sources close to the Deadpool decision say it wasn’t possible to excise the offending material without causing plot problems.’

The film has received an R-rating in the US, and will either get a 15 or maybe even an 18 rating from the BBFC in the UK – the board are still lot release their verdict on the movie.

Deadpool is due on February 21 in the US and February 10th in the UK.
