THN arrived in Berlin earlier today for this year’s Berlinale, the 66th Berlin Film Festival. The festival opened earlier this evening with George Clooney, Channing Tatum and co. walking the red carpet in front of the Berlinale Palast for the premiere of Hail Caesar, the Coen brothers flick that opened the show.

As things kick off on the red carpet, news starts to filter down from the various deals being dealt behind-the-scenes. According to Deadline, the basis for the film will be the Emmy-nominated documentary Surviving Mumbai, which revolves around the 2008 attacks where a group of heavily armed Pakistani militants attacked the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel in Mumbai. ‘For 68 hours, hundreds were held hostage as shots rang out and an enormous fire raged. When the smoke cleared, 31 people were dead and many more injured. Only the courageous actions of staff and guests prevented a much higher death toll.’
