The Pacific Rim sequel looks like it is finally on its way to becoming a reality after Daredevil writer/ director Steven DeKnight has been hired to helm. Pacific Rim 2 will be his feature directorial debut.
It doesn’t look like the original film’s director Guillermo del Toro has said how involved he will be, as he’s gone on to other project after Legendary Pictures put the sequel on hold.
The first film didn’t do to well on domestic soil and only managed to bank around $90 million, but worldwide takings reached over $411 million, putting it back into the black.
DeKnight, who has also directed episodes of Angel, Smallville and Dollhouse, amongst other things, will start work on Pacific Rim 2 almost immediately.
