J.K. Simmons to play Commissioner Gordon in ‘Justice League’

Underused: J.K. Simmons has signed on for more Terminator sequels.

The Justice League movie has found its Commissioner Gordon. Jumping from Marvel to DC, J.K. Simmons will play the Gotham City police commissioner in the planned DC ensemble movie, which will start shooting this year.

Simmons, who won the Best Supporting Actor Oscar for Whiplash last year, and who will be heard in this week’s big opener in the UK, Kung Fu Panda 3, will join the famous superheroes in Batman (Ben Affleck), Superman (Henry Cavill), Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), Aquaman (Jason Momoa), The Flash (Ezra Miller) and Cyborg (Ray Fisher) in the Zack Snyder directed first part of a planned duo of movies based on the famous Justice League comic books.

The film will start shooting from a screenplay by Chris Terrio from next month, and will head for a Nomember, 2017 release. Charles Roven, Zack Snyder and Deborah Snyder will produce for Warner Bros.
