Hollywood is setting out some remake plans, this time for a classic Burt Reynolds film in The Cannonball Run. Warner Bros. are behind the film, which will be directed by Tropic Thunder writer Etan J. Cohen.
The original was a 1980s action comedy about a cross-country illegal car race, that featured an ensemble cast, including Frank Sinatra, Roger Moore, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr and Dom DeLuise. We’re guessing that Cohen and co. will planning something similar for the new version, which is in the early stages of development at the studio. Deadline, who got the scoop refer to the remake as simply ‘Cannonball’. We hope that a stolen ambulance and a crazy doctor is involved somewhere.
Cohen is also behind the superb Idiocracy and the third Men In Black movie.
