The Russo brothers talk ‘Captain America: Civil War’, ‘Infinity War’

Simon Thompson over at Forbes has conducted a superb interview with Anthony and Joe Russ, who spoke about their forthcoming box-office behemoth that is Captain America: Civil War, along with many other things. The film will enter cinemas here in the U.K. on April 29th, and then bow Stateside a week later.

Lots of questions were fired at the duo, who next tackle the wider world of The Avengers in the two-part ‘Infinity War‘ over the next few years. They were quite candid in their answers, and when asked which characters would be in the huge double-header, Anthony replied that while some known characters will return for the third and fourth Avengers movie, “There are certain characters that you don’t know.”

“New characters that are going to appear in Avengers: Infinity War,” Joe Russo added. “It’s a big sprawling ambitious movie, it’s about as ambitious as movies get and it should be, and the title alone indicates that there will be an incredible scape and scope to it.”

Talking about this year’s Captain America: Civil War, a film which seems like a mini-Avengers movie itself, the duo touched on the addition of Spider-Man to the official Marvel universe, and revealing him in the recent final trailer. “We thought it was a great way to reveal him,” Joe Russo says, “I think people are going to be happy with him in the movie, he’s got a very interesting role in it.”

But will he appearing Avengers: Infinity War? “To be determined. We’ll see,” Joe Russo adds.

In the interview, the brothers were also asked if there would be a post-credits sting in Captain America: Civil War. While they wouldn’t reveal who would be in it, it is clear that they have big plans for us once the film ends.

“We can’t say who is going to be in it but we can say that there certainly could be one, or two, maybe three,”  Joe Russo commented. “We can confirm that you should stay sat in your seats when the movie is done.”

Captain America: Civil War opens on April 29th. Avengers: Infinity War Part I will release in 2018, with Part II hitting in 2019.
