Shane Black Predator movie will be huge in scale; up there with the likes of any Marvel blockbuster.
Shane Black is putting the finishing touches to his upcoming comedy The Nice Guys, but has revealed that his next project, the redo/ sequel to Predator, will be his most ambitious yet, and could even be on the scale of his very successful Iron Man 3 from a few years back. The Shane Black Predator movie could be the event film of 2018.
Black spoke with Thrillist about Fox contacting him to return to the franchise in which he appeared in back in 1987.
“They called me and I was reluctant”, Black told the website. “I said, ‘look. You guys at Fox, I mean, I enjoy these movies, but we’ve been churning out these AVP whatever, they each cost a certain amount of money, they’re okay, but there’s no effort to elevate them or make them any kind of an event. They’re just sort of another Predator’”.
But then Fox described what they wanted Black to dow with the new movie, and replied; “’what if we said to you we want to reinvent this, and really treat it with as much of an event status, or as much hoopla as we would the Alien prequel, which is coming out also? We really want to make this something. The kind of movie that people line up for’”.
Black’s directing credits include the superb Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang, the awesome and very funny Iron Man 3, and this summer’s The Nice Guys. He wrote the original Lethal Weapon movie and its sequel, the Samuel L. Jackson/ Geena Davis vehicle The Long Kiss Goodnight, the Bruce Willis action film The Last Boy Scout and Arnold Schwarzenegger’s under-rated Last Action Hero.
The Shane Black Predator movie will arrive in cinemas in March 2018, and it will kick off our spring/ summer quite nicely thank you very much.
