Sir Paul McCartney has joined the cast of Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales. The news comes after the film has officially wrapped photography, but Deadline are reporting that reshoots will take place, and will revolve around a new character that is to be played by the former Beatle.

McCartney follows Rolling Stone Keith Richards, who appeared as Johnny Depp’s character, Jack Sparrow’s father in the last two instalments, On Stranger Tides and At World’s End.

Orlando Bloom, Geoffrey Rush, Javier Bardem, and Kaya Scodelario will also appear in the fifth movie, which will enter cinemas next year. Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg are directing the new film, with Jerry Bruckheimer producing.

McCartney’s notable acting roles include 1964’s A Hard Day’s Night and Help! in 1965, though he has made appearances in various movies in the years that have followed, including Give My Regards To Broad Street.

Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales will be released on May 26, 2017.
