New Disney Peter Pan movie on the way. The studio line-up another of their previously produced animated films for the live-action treatment.
The Walt Disney Company are planning a new live-action Peter Pan movie, continuing their run on reviving their most beloved animated tales. More on the new Disney Peter Pan movie below.
Following on from the likes of Maleficent, Cinderella and the magnificent The Jungle Book, which opens in cinemas across the world this week, Disney are looking at producing a live-action Peter Pan tale, which the studio has previously brought to the screen back in 1953 in animated form. David Lowrey (Ain’t Them Bodies Saints and the forthcoming Pete’s Dragon), will team with screenwriter Toby Halbrooks for the planned project.
The Mouse House also has live-action fares Beauty and the Beast, Cruella, Maleficent 2, Dumbo, Mulan, Winnie the Pooh, Pinocchio, Genies, Night on Bald Mountain and The Sword in the Stone, all in various stages of development or production.
Peter Pan has obviously been seen in live-action form quite a bit over the last few decades, including Hook, P.J. Hogan’s Peter Pan and last year’s Pan from director Joe Wright, a film that we rather liked, but one that didn’t vibe with an audience. The Warner Bros. film performed very badly at the box-office, so its a surprise that a new Disney Peter Pan movie, particularly a live-action one has been put into development by the studio.
However, Disney are on quite a run of good luck. The Jungle Book is getting rave reviews, and should do well when it bows on Friday, and their last animated fare Zootropolis (Zootopia) also wowed both the critics and audience. We liked that one too.
That’s all we have on the new Disney Peter Pan movie presently, but we’ll bring you more news as it comes in.
