Shane Black talks Predator in news interview: Schwarzenegger still not confirmed to return.
Shane Black talks Predator in a new interview ahead of the release of his next movie, The Nice Guys, and it sounds even more impressive.
The Predator will roll into production very soon, just as soon as Black, who has written the screenplay and will direct, has got The Nice Guys into cinemas. He confirmed that The Predator will be his next project to Collider.com, and also revealed some more about the highly anticipated event movie.
Het told the site that “barring an act of God, a safe from the sky, there’s nothing that suggests it won’t be the next thing, and I’m getting more and more excited day by day. I mean, there’s great Predator movies, but to actually play with the idea of making it an event, not necessarily in scale it doesn’t have to be huge – but it just has to feel like a Predator movie you want to see in the summer and line up for it.”
There has been some speculation that Arnold Schwarzenegger is all set to reprise his role of Dutch in the film, but it appears that he and Black haven’t met as yet.
Black said that “we have not talked about it.”
“I think it’s something we’re looking into, and as this thing evolves and takes on more of a shape, we’ll figure out how best to honour the tradition of what is really a remarkable first movie, and even parts of the rest of them as well”, the filmmaker added.
Word is that the new movie will be set thirty years after the events of the first movie (Predator was released in 1987), which does place things quite nicely for the older Schwarzenegger to easily return. The film is set for a March, 2018 release. Shane Black talks Predator in Collider’s full interview at the end of the link above.
