There are some rumours surfacing this morning that Daniel Craig has officially departed the James Bond franchise – well, kind of.
The source for the news is the Daily Mail in the UK, who say that an LA source has told them, ‘Daniel is done – pure and simple – he told top brass at MGM after Spectre. They threw huge amounts of money at him, but it just wasn’t what he wanted.’
He added: ‘He had told people after shooting that this would be his final outing, but the film company still felt he could come around after Spectre if he was offered a money deal.’
The rumour is that the deal was huge. Really huge. The online version of the news paper says that it is around £68 million for two more films, which is a very large chunk of change. Of course, none of this is really official as it hasn’t come from any of Craig’s reps or the studio/ production company behind the Bond franchise.
Bookies have reportedly stopped taking bets on Tom Hiddleston taking the role next after a huge bet was placed over this past weekend.
