Can the New Trailer Save ‘Star Trek Beyond’? Watch Now

J. J Abrams’ 2009 re-versioning of Star Trek took the world by storm and, more importantly, pleased plenty of die hard ‘Trekkies’. The follow-up Star Trek Into Darkness didn’t fair as well, but did still make a truckload of money. A third film was subsequently announced, though Abrams left the project in favour of having a whirl at that other popular ‘Star’ franchise.

Taking over the helm for Star Trek Beyond is Justin Lin, aka Mr Fast and Furious (he’s directed four of the seven films). The first trailer arrived a couple of months back and was not met with the most positive of receptions. This new second trailer hopes to rectify that, but does it cut it? Have a watch below:

It seems that Kirk (Chris Pine) is having a crisis of personality, who is he outside of his father’s shadow? Other than that we get a whole lot of action and happily a much more serious tone to proceedings. The biggest gripe about the first trailer is that the film was coming across as a more of a parody of the franchise than an actual stand-up instalment in the series.
