Ridley Scott is currently in Australia shooting the Prometheus sequel/ Alien prequel Alien: Covenant, a film which he and 20th Century Fox will release in August of next year. Some set photos have been popping up online via various outlets, but here we have our first ‘official’ look at one of the series’ new stars, Katherine Waterston, who we last saw in Danny Boyle’s Steve Jobs.
The image, which you can see below, was actually from an image on a monitor, but you can clearly see Waterston’s new female lead.
Here’s the plot.
Set as the second chapter in a prequel trilogy that began with Prometheus, Alien: Covenant connects directly to Ridley Scott’s 1979 seminal work of science fiction. It begins with the colony ship Covenant, bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy. There, the crew discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world — whose sole inhabitant is the “synthetic” David, survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.
Also starring are Danny McBride (Eastbound and Down), Demián Bichir (The Hateful Eight), Jussie Smolett (Empire), Amy Seimetz (Upstream Color), Carmen Ejogo (Selma), Callie Hernandez (Machete Kills), and Billy Crudup (Watchmen). Michael Fassbender will also return as David.
Jack Paglen (Transcendence) and Michael Green (Green Lantern) wrote the script.
Fox currently has Alien: Covenant set for release on August 4th, 2017.
