Former Bond girl on Daniel Craig’s decision to leave

It’s still not official that Daniel Craig is set to leave the Bond franchise after four very successful movies, but those rumours of a replacement for him in the next film in the 007 series (also the 25th) continue to surface across the internet.

Now, former Bond girl Caterina Murinom who appeared with Craig in 2006’s Casino Royale has come to his defence in a new interview with The Sunday People about his potential decision to leave one of the most famous and successful film franchises of all time.

“It’s not easy to go back time and time again. It can be tiring to keep trying to find new things in the same role,” Murinom said to the Sunday tabloid.

“I can understand why Daniel would not want to return. Bringing back the same role again can be complicated.”

“It’s hugely stressful being Bond. There’s a lot of money involved, so that also brought more tension – and a lot of that tension was on Daniel.”

Craig apparently spent 18 hours a day making his scenes perfect, and with an average shoot on a 007 movie being about six months, you can maybe see why he’s exhausted.

“I remember the scene where I arrive at the casino and my screen husband is about to move his playing card,” Murinom continued.

“We shot that same scene and played the same card over and over for two days straight.

“Then Daniel said, ‘Don’t put the camera on me any more, what else can I do, I don’t know what to do any more.’ So many people laughed – Daniel is a perfectionist, but he’s also human.”

With all of that said, the actress did seem to back one frontrunner in the race to replace Craig.

“I’m a huge fan of Tom’s [Hiddleston] work. I believe Barbara will pick someone like that who has a theatre background,” she said.

Daniel Craig officially has one more movie left on his current contract. We’d expect to hear nothing before 2017 as the next Bond movie probably won’t hit cinemas until at least 2018.
