There will be a second season of Preacher. News reaches THN this morning that AMC have ordered a second season of the hit show, which airs on Amazon Prime Video in the UK. Dominic Cooper leads the cast of the show, which revolves around Jesse Custer (Cooper), a preacher who enlists the help of a vampire to find God.
The darkly comedic Preacher is based on Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon’s popular 1990s comic book franchise of the same name. Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, along with Sam Catlin are responsible for its TV incarnation, a show which is currently ranked as the #2 new series on (US) cable this year in both the 18-49 and 25-54 age demographics.
“Preacher is a special television program and we’re eager to share with fans the rest of this wild first season and, now, an expanded second season,” AMC president Charlie Collier said. “What Sam, Seth, Evan and the entire creative team have achieved in bringing Garth Ennis’ graphic novel to the screen is extraordinary. We look forward to more time with these unforgettable characters be it in Heaven, Hell, Texas or beyond.”
Fulfilling a promise to his deceased father, one-time outlaw Jesse Custer returns home to West Texas to take over his dad’s church. Jesse’s mission, however, becomes twisted when his body is overcome by a cryptic force that unleashes within him a highly unconventional power. Together with hell-raising ex-girlfriend Tulip and Irish vagabond Cassidy, the preacher-in-training embarks on a journey to find God in a world inhabited by holy, hellish, and everything-in-between characters.
Great news.
