End Of Harry Potter: Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is the final chapter in the Potter story.
Author J.K. Rowling confirmed the ‘end of Harry Potter’ as the book of the play hits shelves.
It was Harry Potter mania across the United Kingdom and indeed the world this past weekend when Harry Potter and the Cursed Child received its grand opening at the Palace theatre in the West End of London, and the book of the play, which is split into two parts, went on sale at bookstores, which opened early/ stayed open late. But J.K. Rowling has seemingly dropped a big bombshell as she went out and about to promote it.
It looks like this is Harry’s swansong.
Speaking to Reuters, the best-selling author confirmed that this will be Harry’s final foray in the written form.
“Harry is done now… He goes on a very big journey during these two plays and then, yeah, I think we’re done. This is the next generation, you know. So, I’m thrilled to see it realized so beautifully but, no, Harry is done now.”
With Rowling previously confirming that Harry Potter and the Cursed Child (play) would not be converted to film, expect this to really be the end (though we do have Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them, a Potter spin-off due at the end of the year).
“It was always difficult being Harry Potter and it isn’t much easier now that he is an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, a husband and father of three school-age children,” Rowling previously said of the play.
While Harry grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son Albus must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted. As past and present fuse ominously, both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: sometimes, darkness comes from unexpected places.
J.K. Rowling said: “The story only exists because the right group of people came together with a brilliant idea about how to present Harry Potter on stage. I’m confident that when audiences see Harry Potter and the Cursed Child they will understand why we chose to tell this story in this way.”
