Sony’s Tristar Pictures and Entertainment One are rebooting The Chronicles Of Narnia series with The Silver Chair, the fourth book in the series. The Mark Gordon Company will also board the project to co-finance with the film set to be a new, fresh approach with a new creative team behind it.
The Mark Gordon Company and The C.S. Lewis Company are developing and producing the film version of the novel, which will be adapted by David Magee, Oscar-nominated screenwriter of Life of Pi and Finding Neverland.
Here’s the story (from the source material).
NARNIA…where owls are wise, where some of the giants like to snack on humans, where a prince is put under an evil spell…and where the adventure begins.
Eustace and Jill escape from the bullies at school through a strange door in the wall, which, for once, is unlocked. It leads to the open moor…or does it? Once again Aslan has a task for the children, and Narnia needs them. Through dangers untold and caverns deep and dark, they pursue the quest that brings them face and face with the evil Witch. She must be defeated if Prince Rillian is to be saved.
“Developing this project with The C.S. Lewis Company has been immensely exciting and a real joy. We are so pleased to team up with our good friends at TriStar and our partners at eOne to introduce this new, magical chapter of the Narnia franchise to fans around the world, both old and new,” said Gordon.
The character of Eustace was played by Will Poulter in the previous movies, who has of course gone on to much bigger things, including a wonderful turn in last year’s The Revenant. It’s unclear if he will reprise the role for The Silver Chair at this stage.
We’ll bring you more on the plans for this new movie as it comes in.
