Black Panther movie: Screenwriter on the forthcoming Marvel movie from Ryan Coogler.
Some major Black Panther movie details have been revealed.
I don’t know about you, but we’re feeling starved of Marvel goodness at the moment. We’ve got a few months until the opening of their next movie, the Benedict Cumberbatch-led Doctor Strange, but thoughts are also looking way past that, particularly towards Ryan Coogler’s Black Panther movie, which will head our way in 2018.
Chadwick Boseman will lead the film, reprising his title role from Captain America: Civil War. Some potential spoilers for that movie follow.
Well, Joe Robert Cole, who is co-writing the screenplay for Black Panther with Coogler, has been speaking about the project with /Film.
“First, I think Chadwick did a phenomenal job in Civil War in setting the tone for him being a king, for the nobility,” Cole said. “At the end, I thought his turn was fantastic and how he rose above his own vengeance. I think that was a great introduction to him. Our standalone movie will begin shortly after Civil War ends. So we’ll be able to see him mourning and him starting to take command as king of his own nation. Lots of things are going to occur within regards to that. The country will be under threat from inside and out so we’ll learn what Wakanda is, that nation, as the most technologically advanced nation on the planet. Also, as Wakanda’s rise to prominence happens, it will affect the MCU moving forward which is really exciting.”
Black Panther will arrive in cinemas on 6th July 2018, but before that we’ll have Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol 2 next April 28th, the Marvel and Sony co-production Spider-Man: Homecoming on 7th July, 2017, and then the next instalment in the Thor franchise, Thor: Ragnarok, which is now filming, next November.
