Make no bones about it, Stephen Lang is about to scare the life out of you in the forthcoming Don’t Breathe from director Fede Alvarez. To promote that film, and his upcoming work on the upcoming one-man play/ documentary Beyond Glory, Lang took to Reddit for an AMA where the subject of those Cable rumours came up. Cable is the villain in the planned Deadpool sequel which shoots next year, and earlier this week we heard that Bloodline actor Kyle Chandler may be being considered for the part. Lang was asked directly if he was set to the play the role. This was his response.

“I guess we should deal with the Cable issue right off the bat,” Lang said. “I don’t know if I’m in the running, if I’m out of the running. The extent of my campaign was how I tweeted “let’s lay some cable,” and social media grew geometrically from there. What I continue to do is if a piece of fan art appears with my mug placed on a Cable-esque body – appealing to my vanity – I retweet it.”

Lang was insistent that he has not been approached to play the part, though I think everyone agrees that he’s a darned good fit.

“I haven’t been approached to play it,” Lang added. “I would assume that because it’s so widespread that the folks over at Fox know my interest in it. One potential conflict is of course it’s Fox, and I have commitments to four Avatar sequels. So logistically it might be a problem. But if they ever consider me for the role? I don’t know.”

The great thing is that the Deadpool movies and the Avatar sequels are both at Fox, so if they wanted to make it work, I’m sure they could. Still, it looks like we may be seeing Colonel Miles Quaritch in all four of the new Avatar movies which is great news in itself.
