Teenage pop sensation Zendaya‘s role in the forthcoming Spider-Man: Homecoming may have been revealed. The U.S. website TheWrap are reporting that the actress may be assuming the role of Mary Jane Watson in the film, which is now shooting under the direction of Jon Watts.
Zendaya will be playing long-time Spider-Man love interest Mary Jane Watson in next summer’s “Spider-Man: Homecoming,” two individuals with knowledge of the project told TheWrap.
Diehard Spidey fans have long speculated about whom the 19-year-old Disney Channel star would portray in Sony’s high-profile reboot of the superhero franchise, starring British actor Tom Holland as a teenage Peter Parker, a.k.a. Spider-Man.
Tom Holland plays the titled character in the film, with support from the likes of Robert Downey Jr, Marisa Tomei and Michael Keaton who plays the film’s villain, Vulture.
Thoughts on the news. We happen to think that this is perfect for MJ and can;t wait to see what Watts and co. have done with this and the rest of the movie. Spider-Man: Homecoming spins in next July.
